Coffee Roasters, Warehouse Fit Out

Introduction

When return client Extract Coffee came to Avent Interiors after expanding to a new premises in Avonmouth, Bristol, they were excited to work again with such a loyal client. The expansion was sparked after a large period of impressive growth for the leading suppliers of coffee. With this uptick in business came the need for new storage solutions and also the infrastructure to house a small logistics team.

Client Background and Challenges

Extract Coffee is a leading supplier of high-quality coffee beans and equipment, serving customers nationwide. With their growing team and evolving business needs, they required a fit out for their new facility in Avonmouth. The challenges lay in the available infrastructure. When the client leased the building, it only came with a toilet and lacked facilities such as a kitchen and breakout area. Avent Interiors was a prime candidate to collaborate with Extract Coffee on this project due to the previous successful collaboration in their other premises.

Project Goals and Requirements

The primary goal of the project was to transform the existing shell unit and fit out the corner of it with the necessary facilities to house a small team of employees who would use the premises as a distribution facility. Key requirements included the integration of partition systems to create functional breakout space, a suspended ceiling system, high-quality flooring solutions, and the kitchen installation. Sustainability and fire protection standards were critical, as well as creating a clean, professional atmosphere that reflected Extract Coffee’s brand.

Solution and Implementation

Avent Interiors developed a customised solution to address Extract Coffee’s specific needs. The project began with the installation of a 70mm metal stud and plasterboard partition system, ensuring that the breakout area layout was aligned with the client’s revised design. The partitions were finished with MDF profile skirting painted in satin white for a sleek and modern look.

A suspended ceiling system featuring 600mm x 600mm white mineral fibre tiles was installed across all areas, providing 1-hour fire protection to meet safety requirements. The flooring solution involved applying a 3mm coat of smoothing compound latex followed by the installation of Altro 2mm non-slip vinyl flooring, ensuring both durability and ease of maintenance. PVC trims were fitted to all transitions, with specific attention to detail on the flooring layout in the office and meeting rooms.

The Avent Interiors team also installed a new kitchen area using a White Greenwich kitchen, complete with plumbing works, including the installation of a fridge/freezer and water heater.
Throughout the project, Avent Interiors worked closely with in-house designers to ensure that every aspect of the fit out met Extract Coffee’s functional and aesthetic needs.

Results and Client Feedback

The completed fit out successfully met Extract Coffee’s objectives, providing an efficient breakout area. The distribution team are now able to work from the facility for the foreseeable future. Extract Coffee’s management praised the final outcome, noting the seamless process and attention to detail provided by Avent Interiors.
