Introduction

Avent Interiors was approached by Wards Solicitors to complete the office fit out of their newly rented office unit at The Prudential Buildings, Wine Street, Bristol. The fit out project combined structural, mechanical and aesthetic features to create a workspace that expertly supports the firm’s staff and clients. The goal of the project was to design a modern, practical and acoustically treated office in a timely manner whilst remaining within a budget.

Client Background & Challenges

Spanning across two sites, the tenancies at Ward’s Solicitors’ original offices, on High Street and Broad Street, were coming to an end. This marked the ideal opportunity to consolidate the two into a single new space, hence the move and need for a fit out.

With over 100 years’ experience in providing expert legal advice to local businesses and individuals, Wards Solicitors was an ideal client for Avent Interiors to work with. Their new space totalled over 5,700 sq ft and needed to feature meeting rooms, private offices, desking, a reception area and an additional tea point.

Project Goals & Requirements

The design Avent Interiors developed focused on both functionality and client experience. Some of the agreed key project goals included:

  • Space planning the area to accommodate meeting rooms, workstations, and private offices.
  • Creating a design that preempts and addresses any possible acoustic issues.
  • Installing HVAC, lighting and electrical systems that provide comfort whilst being efficient.
  • Retaining the architectural beauty of the Prudential Buildings whilst producing a contemporary, integrated aesthetic.

Solution & Implementation

Avent Interiors managed the entire process from initial concept to completion and even supported the client with their move. This approach allowed for a smooth, fully coordinated delivery that fit with the agreed schedule.

Structural steelwork was installed to allow for an enclosed, customisable set of meeting rooms. This was developed utilising a suspended ceiling, a movable wall system and glazed partitioning rated to 48 dB. Avent Interiors constructed the solid walls from soundbloc plasterboard and acoustic insulation. The use of these materials allowed for the area to have exemplary privacy and sound control.

The meeting room set up in Ward's new office fit out. It features a large area which can be divided into three rooms utilising moving walls. All potential rooms have a meeting table and Moventi chairs.

Mechanical and electrical systems were installed throughout the office space. The lighting scheme was developed and focused on energy-efficient LED panels and downlights. Power and data cables were tactically positioned throughout to serve the desk layout. Mitsubishi air conditioning units were installed throughout with an expert ductwork plan; this allowed for temperature control and airflow across the space.

A brand-new tea point was fitted with matt charcoal cabinetry, white sparkle quartz-effect worktops and an integrated Zip HydroTap, creating a refreshment space that is practical and tasteful.

Final touches included carpet tiles, textured woodgrain LVT flooring, roller blinds and a brand-new access control and fire alarm integration system to increase safety and security in the space. Throughout the 12-week programme, the Avent Interiors team guaranteed minimal disruption and total compliance with health and safety standards.

The project was completed with a furniture installation, which took place across 2 days. This included all the desks, screens and task chairs.

Results and Feedback:

The completed office fit out has created a friendly, comfortable, and acoustically balanced environment for staff and visiting clients alike. The meeting room area has allowed for productive meetings due to the expert soundproofing and the project was delivered on time and within budget.
