When Avent Interiors were approached by a world leader in semiconductor solutions, Infineon, they were extremely excited to work with the Bristol branch of an international client. Infineon’s workspace was to undergo an office refurbishment and be transformed into a cutting-edge, highly productive office which would satisfy all of their business requirements.
Client History and Challenges
When Infineon approached Avent Interiors, they were working from a unit that had originally been fitted out over 20 years ago. As you would imagine, this old approach to office fit out posed many problems. These included but were not limited to aesthetic appeal, ageing infrastructure, lighting, furniture, ageing safety systems, and outdated partition systems. Avent Interiors were approached due to their consistent track record of providing incredible office fit outs at any size or budget.
Project Goals & Requirements
The client required a thorough office refurbishment to update their workspace while not affecting the day-to-day operations. The project’s goal was to establish an open but controlled setting that encouraged teamwork while preserving privacy in strategic areas. To improve comfort and efficiency, attention was paid to replacing the existing HVAC systems, flooring, ceilings and partitions. Infineon also aimed to optimise space planning with adaptable design elements like folding partitions, incorporate a modern LED lighting scheme and install an appropriate fire protection system. To ensure a fully furnished and future-proof office space, new kitchen and restroom facilities were also to be installed as well as a full furniture fit out.
Solution & Implementation
Avent Interiors started by evaluating the existing office infrastructure and layout through a thorough site survey. In the first phase, the entire existing fit out—including the furniture, flooring, suspended ceilings, solid partitions and antiquated mechanical and electrical systems—was stripped out. The area was successfully divided by new partitions that included both solid walls and glazed partitions in the Crittall style.
These glazed partitions offered offices and meeting spaces while preserving an air of openness. The installation of a suspended ceiling system with built-in insulation improved temperature control and acoustic performance.
LVT in the kitchen/lobby and carpet tiles for the office spaces were used to upgrade the flooring, guaranteeing longevity and a contemporary look. To ensure consistent illumination and adherence to safety regulations, a new lighting system was installed to combine new fixtures with existing LED panels. New Daikin VRV heat recovery systems were installed to provide effective climate control, and the ventilation and air conditioning systems were also completely overhauled.
To complete the breakout area, a modern kitchen with integrated appliances and a Nova Hotspot boiling was designed and installed. This area was created to be both aesthetically pleasing and functional, supporting the well-being of the staff. Power and data installations, including relocating floor boxes and power outlets to match the new office layout, were meticulously planned to promote workplace efficiency.
Modernised CCTV access control and fire detection systems were also put in place to guarantee safety and policy adherence. The reception was the final phase of the project; the other two represented each floor of the building. This approach was chosen to allow employees to either work on the other or work from home. This allowed the project to be completed with minimal interruption to the clients operations. Every stage was finished with furniture installation. Desk chairs, meeting room furnishings and breakout furniture were all installed.
