Introduction

Furniture Box is a leading retailer of home furnishings who are renowned for their curated catalogue of high-quality but equally stylish furniture. Established in 2005, Furniture Box has built themselves a reputation for providing affordable yet high-quality products, with a wide range of contemporary and more classic designs they aim to elevate any living space. Furniture Box came to Avent Interiors needing an office partitioning project completed at their office space in Chippenham, Wiltshire. The goal of the project was the reworking of their office space utilising multiple partitions and some furniture.

Client Background and Challenges

Furniture Box had recently taken up residence in a trading estate just outside Chippenham. The unit’s primary function was to act as a storage facility with a small office area on the first floor. This office area wasn’t fit for purpose due to the open-plan nature; this is where Avent Interiors were asked to quote for the project. Furniture Box explained the lack of structure in the office was hampering productivity, and they needed some distinct private meeting rooms/offices created. Furniture Box invited Avent Interiors to quote for the projects due to their lengthy and successful track record of installing partitioning across the South West.

Project Goals and Requirements

The holistic goal of the project was to make the office space more productive. This was to be achieved by reworking the open-plan nature of the room to create four distinct areas. Area one would be the row of manager offices and meeting rooms; area two would be the desking; area three would be the breakout/waiting area; and area four would be the kitchen. One particular design element Avent Interiors were keen on implementing was utilising glazed partitions for the meeting rooms and private offices. The idea behind this recommendation was to keep the natural light flowing through the entire office to improve employee wellbeing.

Solution and Implementation

Avent Interiors discussed Furniture Box’s issues with their current office space and came up with a space plan to resolve these issues. The 4 sections were to be divided up utilising a mix of both solid and glazed partitions and a storage wall. Detailed project plans were presented, offering a range of design options for the Crittall glass partitioning to ensure the client had the flexibility to choose a solution that best suited their needs.

For the solid partitions, Avent Interiors utilised a construction consisting of 50mm studs, 25mm insulation, and 2 layers of 12.5mm db plasterboard on each side. The partitions were meticulously tape & jointed, painted in white, and adorned with black wall abutments, head channels, end caps, and aluminium skirting.

For the Crittall Glass Partitioning, approximately 22m of 12.8mm acoustic laminated single-glazed glass with black aluminium trims on both sides was installed. Black aluminium door frames with 12mm clear toughened glass doors, hydraulic hinges, 600mm pull handles, and drop-down seals were incorporated for a sleek and modern finish. All tracks and ironmongery adhered to a unified RAL 9005 black colour scheme.

"Avent carried out work for our HQ offices, turning it from a big open space for a brand new office and warehouse build to a modern, segmented office that works really well for us. They added partition walls and crittal glass windows and doors to segment out smaller offices, a storage unit to separate a breakout space and a bar worktop area. We've also got some wood panelling in one of the meeting rooms and the breakout space to breakup the white walls. Avent got the "look" we wanted spot on and everyone is really pleased with the finish! High quality materials and work, the contractors on site were very efficient, friendly and tidy. Everything completed well within the timeline they gave. Great to work with and would highly recommend them!"
