Avent Interiors were approached by this client to quote for larger works following the success of a project where Avent Interiors created a meeting space in their premises. The client came to Avent Interiors with a plan to fully fit out the location they had recently moved into. Their headquarters in the centre of Bristol was not optimised to take full advantage of the footprint and therefore didn’t allow for any future additions to their workforce. This collaboration between Avent Interiors and their client would span over a year and see several smaller projects combine to create a fully operational workspace which was modern, sleek and future-proof.
Client Background and Challenges
The majority of the client’s premises comprised a warehouse structure which allowed for a wealth of vertical space which was going unutilised. The clients wanted to change this by installing a mezzanine and fitting out office space both above and below. This plan, coupled with a breakout area reconfiguration and the creation of a test facility, outlined the major developments to the HQ. The client chose to invite Avent Interiors to quote for this mix of works due to their track record of supplying quality fit outs and previous successful collaboration.
Project Goals and Requirements
One of the main goals was an increase of office space; by installing the mezzanine floor and sectioning off one side with a jumbo partition, the client could develop 2 distinct office floors. These office areas would house desking, meeting rooms, call rooms, storage walls and project areas to help skyrocket productivity.
The reorganisation of the breakout was to further optimise the space. The installation of new soft seating, a pool table and a new kitchen all helped to bring the breakout area up to standard with the rest of the premises.
The third project involved the construction of a free-standing test facility housed inside the headquarters. This facility would take the shape of two rooms, one which housed the part being tested and the other which housed computers running the testing software.
Solution and Implementation
Avent Interiors worked with the client over many different projects, which increased in size and scope as the partnership blossomed. Originally Avent Interiors were brought in to create some simple partitions, which solidified them as a trustworthy and competent choice for later projects.
The first of the larger projects involved the reorganisation of the breakout area, which would facilitate the later plans. The breakout/canteen area was originally made up of half desking and half breakout area. The decision was made to extend the breakout/canteen area by removing the desking, which would facilitate the increased footfall caused by later projects. This reorganisation saw a complete overhaul of the space with the introduction of meeting rooms at the end of the area. The installation of extra bench seating, soft seating, a pool table and a dartboard made the space the perfect place to relax after eating lunch.
The second of the larger projects as detailed above was the construction of a testing facility. The third and largest project included the installation of a mezzanine floor with 2 office floors being fitted out above and below. The upper office floor included 2 large meeting rooms and linked back to the first meeting room Avent Interiors had created. The ground floor features a similar mix of desking, meeting rooms, and breakout space.
Avent Interiors produced detailed plans, drawings, and mock-ups throughout every stage of each project to keep the client fully involved and aware of the following steps. Detailed schedules of works were also produced, and a large effort was made to stick to these, and if the unavoidable happened, a streamlined action plan was produced to nullify the issue.
Throughout the projects, Avent Interiors utilised the latest in design trends and solutions to create a modern, sleek, and productive environment to ensure the project would be on trend for years to come. Once the three larger projects were completed for the client, they were able to boast a HQ which not only made the most of their vertical space but also was future-proofed with sleek design choices that matched their brand. The new office floors created each housed over 30 desk positions along with 4 meeting rooms, showers, breakout areas, and ample room to expand.
Conclusion
The end result, when combining every project, was a completely reworked building that benefited from over 60 new desk positions, various meeting and project rooms, a revamped breakout area, and a bespoke lab area to test components.
