Introduction
Alma Rail is a company that specialises in refurbishment and operates in the rail sector. Established in 2007, they offer a wide range of services. This includes track inspection, maintenance, and renewal to cable installation works. Located near the centre of Bristol, one of Alma Rail’s units is a unique older building which once housed an outdated and busy storage room. Avent Interiors were approached to carry out a site survey and quote for office dilapidations of the area. The primary objective of the project was to undertake a complete transformation of the existing warehouses. A complete rework of the space to be refurbished and ready for an office area. Client Background and Challenges
There were several issues facing Alma Rail at their premises when they invited Avent Interiors to quote the project. The biggest challenge was the functionality of the space, which was limited due to the original use as a messy storage facility. A separate but equally important issue was the aesthetics of the space, which needed much improvement and professional finishing. Alma Rail approached Avent Interiors due to their track record of working with industrial spaces and refurbishing them into working office environments.
Project Goals and Requirements
The primary goal of this project was to refurbish the area into a shell, which Alma Rail could then take and craft a working office environment. The project, when it was handed back to the client, was to include finished toilets and a kitchen along with the shell previously mentioned.
Solution and Implementation
Communication and planning are key to any project Avent Interiors undertakes; this project was no exception. They worked closely with Alma Rail to establish and develop a plan addressing the key issues of aesthetics and amenities. A survey of the space available was conducted, and from this, Avent Interiors was able to plan out where it would be most suitable to place the toilets and kitchen.
One specific challenge Avent Interiors faced during this project was the quality of the floor. The original building was quite old and therefore had a floor that was difficult to work with. The solution was to DPM the floor and then apply deep-fill latex followed by finishing latex.
Results and Client Feedback
Thanks to the work undertaken by Avent Interiors, Alma Rail has received a refurbished area ready to be crafted into an office space. The kitchen and the toilet placement allowed for the most optimal use of the rest of the area. Alma Rail is over the moon with the completed project, especially the professional finishes that Avent Interiors strives to incorporate into every job.
