Nursery Village came to Avent Interiors after acquiring two new premises in Bristol and the surrounding areas. One in Portishead and the other in the Southville area of the city. Nursery Village, as the name suggests is a chain of nurseries across the Sout West who dedicate themselves to creating unique childcare experiences for the neighbourhoods they operate within. Avent Interiors were approached due to their exemplary record of providing a range of interior fit outs and extensive list of services.
Client Background and Challenges
Nursery Village is recognised for its innovative approach to early years education and its commitment to creating nurturing, engaging spaces for children. The newly acquired sites each presented unique challenges. Southville was an empty shell requiring a full interior build. Portishead, on the other hand, was a vacant two-storey office unit, previously occupied and complete with existing partitioning, carpeting, and furniture—none of which were suitable for a childcare environment.
Project Goals and Requirements
The primary goal was to transform both spaces into safe, stimulating, and fully compliant childcare settings. For Southville, this meant a full fit out from a bare shell, including the installation of partitions, flooring, and finishes. At Portishead, extensive strip-out works were required, including removal of old partitioning, uplift of carpeted flooring, and reconfiguration of existing suspended ceilings to accommodate a new layout fit for purpose.
Solution and Implementation
Southville:
Avent Interiors began with a full interior build of the shell unit. Existing perimeter walls were lined and plastered, then finished with hard-wearing, child-friendly paint in vibrant colours to create an inviting atmosphere. New partition walls were constructed to create purpose-built zones including children’s rooms, staff offices, toilets, and storage areas. Acoustic ceiling systems were installed to support a calm learning environment, and safety-compliant, slip-resistant flooring was laid throughout to handle daily use by young children.
Portishead:
A full strip-out of the two-tier office unit was undertaken. This included the removal of existing partitions, carpets, and leftover furniture. Avent Interiors adapted the existing suspended ceiling grid to suit the new nursery layout. We then installed new partitions to establish clearly defined areas for children, staff, and storage, ensuring the building met early years education standards. The flooring was replaced with easy-to-clean, high-durability surfaces suitable for a childcare setting, and the interiors were refreshed with vibrant, long-lasting paints.
Throughout both projects, Avent Interiors worked closely with the Nursery Village team and external stakeholders to ensure compliance, efficiency, and a smooth delivery within agreed timelines and budget.
Results and Client Feedback
Once both projects were completed on budget and within the agreed time-frame Nursery Village were left with to new locations to continue expansion across the South West. Both locations were finished to the high standards Avent Interiors pride themselves in and were left in the perfect position to start having furniture installed. The interiors reflected the centres educational values and have created the perfect locations for childcare and education.
