Introduction
Radiodetection, which is a world leader in the management of critical infrastructure and utilities, came to Avent Interiors for an office refurbishment to enhance functionality, safety, and comfort for employees across various departments. The primary goal of the project was to create an enhanced workspace that supported advanced operations, improved safety measures, and provided modern amenities.
Client Background and Challenges
Radiodetection, which has offices on multiple continents around the world, faced numerous challenges with their workspace, including but not limited to outdated infrastructure and insufficient partitioning, which hindered productivity. They required a trusted project partner capable of handling a multi-phase refurbishment, integrating advanced HVAC systems, and addressing fire safety compliance. Avent Interiors was selected based on our track record in delivering complex refurbishment with minimal disruption to client operations.
Project Goals and Requirements
The project focused on providing efficient workspace solutions while ensuring safety, functionality, and energy efficiency. Key requirements included installing a mezzanine level for increased storage, upgrading fire-rated doors and partitions, implementing advanced HVAC systems, and customising workspaces with glass partitions, dado trunking, and floor boxes for power and data needs. Industry standards such as HVAC, R.U.A.G. codes, and fire safety regulations were essential to project compliance.
Solution and Implementation
Our approach began with a comprehensive plan to minimise disruption, conducting initial strip-out work during out-of-hours to allow continuous operation. We installed a 6.04m x 3m mezzanine floor, providing 18.12m² of additional storage space with fire-rated ceiling and column cases. A seven-unit Mitsubishi FDTC40 in-ceiling AC system was installed to serve key rooms, with pipework routed above the suspended ceiling and external units floor-mounted to maintain building aesthetics and HVAC efficiency.
To enhance office safety and aesthetics, we upgraded the fire-rated door sets to FD30 compliance, matching the sleek grey laminate design in the reception area. In the main office area, we installed approximately 34 linear meters of solid partitioning and glass walls, allowing a blend of privacy and openness, with acoustic glass for noise reduction in labs. Electrical and data infrastructure was updated with 298 CAT 7 data cables, floor boxes, and power sockets in compliance with Radiodetection’s REV 4 specifications.

The project resulted in a functional, modernised workspace with enhanced safety features and efficient climate control. Radiodetection reported improved employee comfort, productivity, and satisfaction post-completion.
