Introduction
Equisoft, a leading software solution provider, came to Avent Interiors to design and fit out their latest UK premises. Located in Bath, Somerset, this space was situated on the first floor at Royal Mead. This project aimed to craft a space that helped support productivity, boost employee wellbeing and reflect Equisoft’s brand identity and values.
Client background and Challenges
Equisoft was founded in 1994 and currently operates in over 9 countries with over 350 client partners. They have a headquarters in Montreal, Canada, and offices throughout North America, Europe and Asia. The company offers end-to-end software, data management and consulting services. Their new premises in Bath, Somerset, was require after the decision was made to sell off a certain section of the company. This decision meant the current Bath office was split into two and a new location would be needed to host the remaining staff.
Project Goals and Requirements
Equisoft sought a functional, modern, and versatile workspace that not only supported collaboration but also delivered privacy for meetings and focused work. The requirement for partitioning was evident throughout the brief and would help to form boardrooms, meeting rooms, and call booths. Bespoke carpentry and seating, a fully fitted kitchen, and a breakout area were also identified as key objectives. Equisoft also sought improved acoustic performance, modern ceilings and lighting, integrated AV systems, improved air conditioning and ventilation. Throughout the process it was important to consider compliance with health & safety regulation, building control, and landlord requirements.
Solution and Implementation
Avent Interiors undertook the project in a phased, detail-focused approach. The first actions included the mobilisation of the site, health & safety setup, building control applications, and the building of temporary facilities to ensure the project ran smoothly.
Partitioning was divided up into solid walls for all the private areas and glazed for the collaborative ones. Acoustic insulation was used in the floors and across the walls, as well as trims in MDF to deliver a more practical and aesthetic finish. The insulating of all the floor voids and dwarf walls helped to further optimise sound performance. Furthermore, suspended ceilings, timber slats and acoustic rafts were utilised to deliver a premium aesthetic while still looking after acoustics.
Bespoke joinery included unique kitchen and boardroom seating, joinery cupboards, and new doors with black ironmongery for aesthetic coherence. The kitchen was fitted with two-tone cabinets, worktops, integrated appliances, and a Zip Hydro Tap system, with Fired Earth Metro tiles. Mechanical and electrical works included modifications to AC and ventilation, leak detection, new power and data trunking to provide 51 Cat 6 data points for Wi-Fi, TV, and room booking.
The project strictly followed the landlord and industry standards for safety. Work was supervised using SMSTS, and leak detection work adhered to EMS-5. In conjunction with the designers and engineers, care was taken during the project to check for compliance with the designs relative to the drawings up to the final commissioning of the project from the initial construction drawings.
Results and Client Feedback
The completed office fit out project elevated Equisoft’s premises to a highly operational and visually pleasing workspace. Acoustic and privacy requirements were achieved to provide quiet and collaborative areas without impacting the design. The joinery and high-quality finish of materials enhanced the overall workplace, and the kitchen and breakout areas became focal points for company interaction. Equisoft reported improved staff satisfaction levels, better use of available space, and a considerable uplifting of team collaboration.
